Education:
- Advanced university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Sciences, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
Degree must be an accredited institution listed on https://www.whed.net/home.php
Experience:
- At least eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a multicultural or international organization supporting global-level initiatives.
- Excellent written English with proven experience in writing/editing impactful materials for diverse channels and audiences.
- Proven experience in internal communication, corporate planning, strategy, or organizational development.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement communication strategies, campaigns and events, and divisional workplans, including experience engaging senior leadership.
- Familiarity with results-based management, strategic frameworks, or corporate planning processes is considered an asset.
Languages:
- Required: English (4 – Excellent)
- Desirable: French, Spanish, or Arabic (3 – Good)
Skills:
- Advocacy: Ability to leverage IFAD knowledge and/or communication materials to maintain and promote constructive dialogue around IFAD`s vision and strategic priorities to external actors
- Communication strategy: Expert in planning and implementing internal and external communication to achieve communication objectives: defining communication goals, target audience, creating a communication plan and identifying the right channels. Expert in communication concepts, processes, or data to support long term goals of the organisation;
- Specialized communication skills: Technical know-how relevant to the specific communication role considered (e.g. communication planning, building and maintaining media relations, video production, publishing, web and other digital media, graphic design, visual identity, brand management, internal communication and events management)
- Verbal communication: Ability to use verbal communication as a main tool in profession; clear, succinct and convincing verbal communication; highly professional, balanced and diplomatic language
- Written communication: Ability to use written communication as a main tool in profession, including for speech writing; clear, succinct and convincing written communication; highly professional, balanced and diplomatic language
- IFAD partners: Knowledge of IFAD’s partners’ functioning and mandate , such as the public sector (e.g. governments and policy, institutions and system), non-state actors (NGOs, CSOs, Foundations, etc.) and private sector actors
- Project coordination: Identification of key-priorities, ability to work with others, coordinate and structure work to meet deadlines and adjustment of workplan/resource allocation when needed, identification and management of project-related risks
- Stakeholder management: Strong alignment capabilities and consultation skills, building on effective interactions and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g. for the co-creation of communication material with member states) and ability to build and maintain a strong network (e.g. with journalists, media outlets, etc.)
- Time management: Adherence to deadlines under time constraints and pressure (e.g. to deliver governing body documents on time); ability to coordinate and manage complex workflows and in-house and external teams
- Performance management: Know-how in managing performance so that staff supervised deliver on the agreed objectives and meet their development needs while meeting the needs of IFAD. Is proficient in establishing clear performance goals (operational and behavioural) and learning plans as well as in evaluating the performance of staff against the set goals.
