A new assignment, hosted by UNICEF in Türkiye, is now available for an International UN Volunteer Expert – Data Analyst. This exciting role is based in Istanbul, beginning 3 November 2025, and offers a chance to contribute to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

UNICEF is now driving forward a Humanitarian Human Resources (HR) Data Strategy to integrate, automate, and strengthen data management for improved preparedness and emergency response. The new Data Analyst volunteer will play a pivotal role in this effort.

Role and Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst, the UN Volunteer will join UNICEF’s Human Capital Intelligence & Technology Section, reporting to the Human Resources Officer and working closely with the Chief of People in Humanitarian Action. The volunteer will be fully dedicated to advancing the Humanitarian HR Data Strategy.

Key tasks include:
- People Analytics & Project Management
- Leading the development of digital solutions in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Supporting the transition from manual Excel trackers to structured databases.
- Enhancing data literacy within UNICEF’s global HR community.
- Statistical Programming & Visualization
- Writing code in languages such as Python, R, or C# to automate data processes.
- Developing predictive models to assess workforce capacity and recruitment gaps.
- Creating interactive dashboards with tools like Power BI and Tableau.
- Capacity Building & Decision Support
- Providing technical support to UNICEF offices worldwide.
- Delivering user-friendly visualizations for HR leadership.
- Producing quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc global surge reports.
In addition, the volunteer will promote volunteerism values, share experiences, and engage with communities, in line with the broader UNV mandate.
Candidate Profile
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be aged 18–80.
- Hold a Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (a first degree with equivalent experience may also be accepted).
- Have at least 7 years of relevant professional experience, with 3 years specifically in related data roles.
- Demonstrate strong skills in programming, analytics, and visualization, including knowledge of Python, R, SQL, and Power BI.
- Be fluent in English.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse contexts.

Benefits and Living Conditions
This is a volunteer assignment, not employment. However, UN Volunteers receive a range of allowances and support, including:
- Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): USD 3,971 monthly.
- Accommodation supplement: 20% of the monthly VLA.
- Entry allowance: USD 4,000 (one-time).
- Exit allowance: USD 225 per month of service.
- Family allowance: USD 250–450 depending on dependents.
- Health, dental, and life insurance coverage through CIGNA.
- Annual leave: 2.5 days per month.
- Access to training, learning platforms, and UN networks.
Volunteers will be based in Istanbul and are responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials.
