Join the ILO as a Finance and Administrative Assistant in Kampala, Uganda

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the position of Finance and Administrative Assistant (G5) in Kampala, Uganda. This is a short-term contract of six months under the ILO’s Country Office for Dar es Salaam (CO-Dar es Salaam), within the Regional Office for Africa (RO-Africa). The application deadline is 15 October 2025 (midnight local time, Dar es Salaam).
This position supports the ILO project on promoting social protection coverage and decent work in the Albertine and Rwenzori regions of Uganda. Funded by ENABEL (Belgium Development Agency), the two-year initiative (May 2025–April 2027) aims to strengthen the country’s efforts in extending social protection coverage and promoting decent work for all, especially workers in the informal economy.
The project is aligned with Uganda’s National Social Protection Strategy (2023) and the Decent Work Country Programme (2023/24–2027/28).
About the Role
The Finance and Administrative Assistant will report directly to the National Project Coordinator, providing financial and administrative services to ensure smooth project implementation. The role involves maintaining project financial records, reconciling expenditures, and preparing accurate documentation for financial clearance and payments.
Key duties include:
- Processing and reviewing financial documents such as contracts, payment vouchers, and invoices.
- Monitoring project expenditure, budgets, and financial reports.
- Assisting with donor reporting, audits, and budget preparation.
- Providing administrative and logistical support for workshops, meetings, and field activities.
- Advising staff and partners on financial and procedural guidelines.
The position requires proficiency in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools, alongside strong attention to detail, integrity, and discretion.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Completion of secondary school education (formal training in accounting or finance is an asset).
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in financial and administrative work.
- Excellent command of English and good working knowledge of another local language.
Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
Employment Details
The annual entry-level salary for this position is 66,861,000 Uganda Shillings. Recruitment is subject to local employment regulations, and applicants must hold valid residency and work permits in Uganda.
