UNESCO Is Hiring x3 Associate Project Officer 2025 (Base Salary $84 123).

UNESCO is seeking to hire three Associate Project Officers in 2025 to support its vital initiatives in education, science, culture, and communication. These positions are integral to advancing UNESCO’s mission of promoting peace and sustainable development through collaborative projects.

The Associate Project Officers will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to project planning, implementation, and evaluation. This opportunity allows professionals to engage in meaningful work that impacts communities globally while enhancing their skills in project management and international cooperation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in the field of marine/coastal resources management, environmental sciences or equivalent.

Experience

  • A minimum of two years of experience in the development of technical reports and trainings related to marine policies such as marine spatial planning, integrated coastal zone management, and sustainable blue economy.

  • Experience in project implementation, including co-leading activities and support to information/knowledge management and project reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with organisation and facilitation of online and face-to-face events (preferably at international level).

Skills / Competencies 

  • Familiarity with UNESCO-IOC’s guides on MSP.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize issues, compile and analyse data as well as synthesise information in coherent and succinct formats.
  • Ability in basic web design (minor use of HTML), web content, etc.

  • Excellent coordination and organisational skills, high attention to details and ability to multi-task.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under tight deadlines and with a certain degree of autonomy following the directions and guidance of the supervisor.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment, to engage effectively with existing and potential institutional partners/collaborators as well as team spirit.

Language

  • Excellent knowledge of English.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Competency 

  • Familiarity with UNESCO rules and procedures is an advantage.

Languages

  • Knowledge of French and Spanish will be an asset.

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.

The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 84,123 US $.
